Thanks to the new processor, Ultrabook Will Be More Affordable

Although thin and lightweight, Ultrabook still not very popular because the price is too expensive for consumers. However, that soon will change because Ultrabook cheaper version is being prepared.

Intel, the microchip giant heavily promoting Ultrabook, will launch Celeron processor Ultra-Low-Voltage (ULV) type 877 and 807 are each valued US $ 86 and $ 70. These processors are much cheaper than Core i7-3720QM that sold for US $ 378.

Intel Celeron 807 processor uses one core that works at speed of 1.5 GHz, while the Celeron 877 is dual-core processors that works at speed of 1.4 GHz.

"ULV" on the new processor refers to the so-called low-power consumption of only 17 watts. Both have architecture base Sandy Bridge and is made with 32 nm fabrication process.

Hwelett Packard use BMW techonology design to create HP Workstation Z1

Hewlett Packard (HP) work together with BMW Design Works USA to create workstation design (PC desktop premium). HP decide to work with BMW because they want to present luxurious design on their new product. HP implemented BWM design technology for their new product, HP workstation Z1.

For performance, HP Z1 has advantage because its "Hybrid". This means that it can use Quad Core Intel Xeon processors or Intel Core i3. So we can use that workstation as regular PC or PC server.

For graphics, the workstation use Intel graphics card HD 2000 or Intel HD 3000. If the user need higher performance, HP has provided Nvidia Quadro graphics card.

Price of Intel Core i3 Ivy Bridge in Europe

As previously reported, Intel will launch new generation of processors, Ivy Bridge as the successor of last Intel processors on the market today.

Before launching Core i3 Ivy Bridge to the market, Intel first will launch its flagship Core i7 and Core i5. Core i3 generation Ivy Bridge for desktop is estimated will be available on June in three models.

As quoted from VR-Zone, three models are Core i3-3220, Cire i3 3225 and Core i3 3240. The first model, Core i3 3220 is priced $ 149 according to some online store in Europe.

The second model, Core i3 3225 is priced at around $ 172. This model has been equipped with sophisticated Intel graphics, Intel HD Graphics 4000.

Microsoft and Intel work together to compete Apple

Currently Intel and Microsoft are working together to produce Windows 8 touch-based tablet that based on Ultrabook platform. ODM (Original Design Manufacture) from Taiwan claim Intel-Micosoft duet aims to reduce iPad market share from 70% to 50% in mid 2013. What weapons are prepared by Intel-Microsoft? Of course, Microsoft's most advanced operating system, Windows 8.

As quoted from TomsHardware, Intel-Microsoft products are Hybrid Ultrabook that ever been showed in IDF (Intel Developer Forum) event and will compete Apple on two market, tablet market and ultrabook market.

To Compete Intel Ivy Bridge, AMD Prepare Trinity

The launch of new processors, Ivy Bridge apparently sparked reaction to Intel rival, AMD (Advanced Micro Devices). AMD reportedly is producing APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) with code name Trinity and is expected to appear on the market in third quarter this year. APU itself is a name that was given by AMD for its products that incorporate with Radeon graphics processors  in  single chip.

As quoted from Fudzilla, the processor will be included in Trinity platform codenamed Virgo and use a new socket, socket FM2.

The fastest processors from AMD Trinity is A10 5800K  quad-core with speed of 3.8 GHz, 4MB cache, 100W TDP and memory support to DDR3 1866 MHz RAM memory.

Qualcomm Prepare S4 Processor To Compete Intel and AMD Quad-core

Microsoft plans to support ARM architecture through its latest operating system, Windows 8, opening the potential for competition between ARM processors such as Qualcomm, Tegra with x86 processors such as AMD and Intel.

IDG reports that Qualcomm is currently developing a quad-core processors S4 SOC (System On Chip) that is intended for thin laptop market.

Qualcomm that famous because of its brand  Snapdragon processor will directly compete with such  thin laptop platform AMD Ultrathin and Intel Ultrabook.

Thin laptop platforms developed by Qualcomm is expected to be thinner than the MacBook Air and Ultrabook Intel with higher resolution screen, longer lasting battery and even 3D graphics support.

Intel chips for Macbook Air and Ultrabooks

To support slim notebook Macbook Air and Ultrabooks products, Intel is preparing the chips to satisfy vast majority of users who want to upgrade from Core 2 Duo laptop into Ivy Brige processors that well known as Core i-series. Intel seems will focus on power efficient chips for Ultrabooks products. This chips designed with "M" or "U" suffix, and said that will draw less 20 watts than desktop computer.

Power efficient chips of course will affect its appearance. You can't compare the 17W chip with 25W or 35W chip that usually used by common thick laptops. But after all, the new chip is more than enough to satisfy the user who previously use Core 2 Duo laptop.
