Today (05/23/2012), Google decorative logo (Doodle) was designed to commemorate the anniversary of the inventor of electronic music, namely Robert Moog. He was born on May 23, 1934. The result, Google Chrome has managed to surpass Internet Explorer for the first time this year.



Actually, in the end of 2011 Google Chrome had beat Internet Explorer for the first time as the most popular browser in the world.

But even Google Chrome has become the most widely used browser globally, Internet Explorer still dominates the usage internet browsing in North America, including United States.

StatCounter was released data about the most widely used internet browser every week.

Google Launched Knowledge Graph


Google officially launched its newest features in their search engine, Knowledge Graph. With this feature you will get search results more content-rich, interactive, and more detail. Why is richer? By Knowledge Graph you will find a more diverse content. And this will be more interactive content because Google will explain the details.



Let's say you search on Google search engine with keywords "Vincent Van Gough". On page result later, Google will provide more detail than usual. In search pages later, on the right side of search results, you will find information about "Vincent Van Gough" from several angles.

Let's say "Vincent Van Gough" associated with the figure (person), books, sites, or products. If the related person, Knowledge Graph will show more detailed information.

Google + : A "Ghost Town" Social Network


Google may claim that their social networking site, Google +, has 100 million users until early April 2012. However, a study says otherwise, Google + is like "ghost town". Google + has many residents but minimal activity, that's roughly how to describe Google + condition for now. Based on a survey carried out by RJ Metrik research institutions to 40 thousand Google + users based on random sample, it was noted that the activity of Google + users are quite low.



According to RJ Metrics survey, each post gets an average of only one "+1" (similar to Like on Facebook) and a reply anyway. In addition, there are about 30% of Google + users who only make  a public posting once in social networking and never again make second posting.

Active users on average do a post every 12 days, even 15% of Google users who have made 5 + posts never again make a public posting. The number of publicly posting of all active users on average continues to decline each month.

Iran Limited GMail, Yahoo, and Hotmail Usage


Iran's Telecommunications Ministry began to restrict the use of electronic messages (email) from foreign service in corporate banking, insurance, and mobile operators. The government wants the company to use Iran's Mail, a local email service that have addresses domains ending with .ir (dot IR).



Not only employees, restrictions on the use of foreign mail applies to the customers of the company engaged in three industry sectors. Government agencies and universities must also use the email address from domain .ir.

The Iranian government is not directly banned GMail, Yahoo and Hotmail. Reported by the AFP on Tuesday (5/15/2012), this step is part of government efforts to secure and monitor the communications of their citizens, by cutting off internet connection to foreigners and global email service providers.

In contrast with Google, Bing will capture Social Network Website Content


Microsoft is revamping their search engine system. Microsoft will reform Bing in order to capture content from social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and others. Bing step of course in contrast with Google that since the beginning of 2012 decided to stop to capture social networking content.


In demonstration that conducted by Microsoft on Thursday (5/10/2012), search activity at Bing will be divided into three columns, Core Web Results, Snapshot, and Sidebar. This three column is scheduled to be released in late May 2012.

On the left side, there is Core Results Web. This will show several website according to keywords. There is no difference with previous Bing search. Since this is main search engine, then it is greatest portion in search results than others.

This Smart Glasses results from Google Video


Google is currently busy with smart glasses product called Glass Project Glass. Google promises these glasses can do many things (multi-tasking) like smartphone. Project that utilizes augmented reality technology can be called future project, which may just be a concept.


However, Google officials have done several steps to "show off" to make sure that the glass is really smart. One of the founders of Google, Sergey Brin, wearing a prototype smart sunglasses at a charity event in early April 2012.

After Brin, now it's Sebastian Thrun turn to show off that smart glasses. As founder and head of Google X, Thrun is responsible for Google Project exhibited Glass photo camera photos that was taken by Google's smart glasses.

Google Docs Add 450 Fonts and 60 New Templates

Google Docs is one of the most popular Google online services, beside Google Mail and Google Maps. With Google Docs you can process documents either in text format documents (Word), presentation (Power Point), or style spreadsheets (Excel) without having office applications in your computer.

Recently, Google Docs has added 450 new fonts and 60 templates.

Cube, Game that help you to more familiar with Google Maps

Last weekend, Google finally launched a game titled "Cube". Cube is actually created to help users understand Google Maps digital map service. Cube games can be played by visiting www.playmapscube.com, using the latest version of  browser.


In the game, you will be offered to explore popular cities in the world. Visitors will confronted by a cube and blue balls. Each side of cubic filled with buildings of three-dimensional shape, which indeed looks like digital map in Google Maps.

While the ball is similar to an object that must be visited several sites in that cubic. You have to direct the ball to across the correct path and arrived as soon as possible at the destination location has been determined.

Officially Released, Google Drive Provide Space Up to 16 TB

Last week rumor said that Google will launch an online data storage service on Tuesday (4/24/2012). It seems that the rumor proved to be true. Google finally officially launched Google Drive yesterday. Google provide free 5GB of data storage capacity. Google Drive is currently available for computer that using operating system Windows, Mac OS and Android. From the description on official site Google Drive, Google Drive will also be made for iOS-based devices, like iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.



Google Drive can be used to store data of all formats, documents, photos, videos, applications, and everything you want. For users who frequently use Google Docs, Google Drive will make their work more comfortable, because all the documents will automatically stored in  Google Drive.

Former Google CEO No Longer paid 1 U.S. Dollar

Initially, Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt salary has the same as salary as Former Apple CEO Steve Jobs. He only get paid 1 U.S. dollar per year . However, after promoted become Executive Chairman of Google, Schmidt salary rose to 1.25 million dollars per year.


According to Associated Press, Eric Schmidt just release her position as Google CEO in late April 2011. His positions are then handed over to new CEO, Larry Page. Google's Schmidt has been CEO for 10 years although paid only $ 1 per year since 2005. Schmidt income in 2011 was about 937.500 U.S. dollars.

According to documents filed to U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, that salary still will be added by compensation of U.S. $ 6 million bonus and subvention worth nearly 264,000 U.S. dollars.

Impede Investigation, Google fined $25,000

Google eventually fined $ 25,000 by the telecommunications regulatory commission in U.S. (Federal Communications Commission / FCC) as deemed to impede the investigation into alleged theft of community data. Google will launch a new page feature named Account Activity this week, and this will be sent to their user via email. On this page you will know the summarize of your search data in Google Search and sites you have visited.


Not only that, Google Account Activity will also record your location via Google Latitude. It will also record your email activity. Later, Account Activity will notify you weekly reports based on data received from the location of the signals obtained via GPS.
 

Microsoft: Chrome Defeat Internet Explorer? That is misleading


Internet browser market competition is quite fierce, earlier reports said that Google's browser, Chrome has beat the "king" of Internet Browser market share, Internet Explorer. Statistical data on browser market share lead to positive and negative views of various parties, especially about the validity of the data and the reaction of browser developers. Many have commented positive and negative to browser user statistics that published by StatCounter, as well as Microsoft, the creator of Internet Explorer browser.

Microsoft says that the data generated StatCounter is not true and misleading. Microsoft argued that the calculation of market share by StatCounter is based solely of the users without considering geoweighting.

AOL Sells 800 Patents to Survive

AOL (America Online Inc.) is global internet service provider company based in New York that are quite popular with their AIM instant message service. Currently AOL is struggling to maintain its existence after its sales shrink in recent years. AOL tried to get a new source income. According to sources from Bloomberg, AOL hired Evercore company to find a buyer or licensee for more than 800 patents owned by AOL.

Since 2009, AOL apart from giant content company, Time Warner. The web company has seen revenue drop by 29 percent. The decrease is presumably due to lower revenues at AOL dial-up service, reportedly, AOL dial-up services revenue fell 18 percent.

Google will penalized Website that implementing excessive SEO

Matt Cutts, head of Google Webspam Team, said that if Google would provide penalties for sites that are too over in implementing SEO. The news was announced Matt Cutts on a SXSW panel discussion between Danny Sullivan, Editor in Chief of Search Engine Land with Microsoft Senior Product Marketing Manager with the headline Dear Goolge Bing & Bing: Help Me Rank Better!

During the discussion a little conclusion can be drawn if Google is working to create a policy in the new action against sites that are over in SEO. According to Matt Cutts, the policy of this new rule will be introduced next month or in a few weeks. He strongly underlined will take action against sites that do not have much content but doing excessive SEO.

Right now, Google is the king on Internet World. There are many people who count on Google. But, do you ever wonder what it is like Google Servers room in Silicon Valley? Apple : World's Most Admired Companies

Once again Apple become top of the list of the most admired company in the world of Fortune magazine for five consecutive years. Apple that now led by Tim Cook is considered to meet all the criteria include innovation, resource management, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial condition and quality of products and services global competitiveness



Reported by AFP on Friday (03/02/2012), other than Apple, Google rank on second position, followed by Amazon in third. Google itself has been in second place for three consecutive years, while the Amazon is up from the previous position (7th position).
