GMail Meter Apps is application that is made by Romain Script Vialard, top contributor to Google Apps Script.
The concept is similar to an application Google Account Activity service that provides statistics about the use of Google Account. The difference is, Google Account Activity is used by Google account owner, whereas GMail Meter is more specific to Gmail users.

- Go to Google Docs from Gmail account and create a new spreadsheet.
- Click on the word Tools and select Script Gallery.
- Type "Gmail Meter" in a search engine and click Install.
- Gmail Meter will appear on that new spreadsheet.
- Click on Gmail Meter to Get a Report. You can choose type of report. Standard reports can be sent every month, or you can arrange to have it sent every two weeks or two months, depending on your option.
- When finished set up, email statistics will be sent via email.
