Windows XP will be supported until April 8, 2014

After supporting computer users worldwide for couple of years, Microsoft said it will eventually completely stop its support for Windows XP operating system in 2014.

This means that two years again, Windows XP certainly would be completely finished. This is done as part of the software giant's life cycle policy of their operating system.

"In 2002 Microsoft introduced a operating system lifecycle policy  based on customer feedback to have transparency and credibility of the support for Microsoft products," Microsoft wrote in its official website, which is quoted on Thursday (4/12/2012).

According to this policy, Windows XP and Office 2003 products, received the support at least 10 years (5 years of Mainstream support and five years of Extended support). So that Microsoft would actually stop support Windows XP on 8 April 2014.

After the 8th of April 2014, there will be no new security updates, no security hotfixes, and other online support either paid or free.

This strategy of course will make users have to change their operating system into new version of Windows. For now Microsoft recommend Windows 7 and Office 2010.
