Some time ago Mozilla and Google decided to develop a browser that supports Metro user interface used on Microsoft latest operating system, Windows 8. Mozilla is now reveals progress in developing their new Firefox browser which has supported Windows 8 Metro environment.
Reportedly, Mozilla Firefox will be launched with the support Metro intergace and traditional display of Windows this year. Metro is Windows 8 user interface that is optimized for touch screen.
"You can navigate the web, create a new tab, mark the pages, create bookmarks, set the cache, set up preferences and much more," said Brian Bondy, Firefox development team members.
Currently there is no link to download Firefox for Windows 8, but the development Firefox for Windows 8 can be followed through the Mercurial team repository.
Currently Firefox is still similar to the look of Firefox to Android, but Firefox Metro has supported the specific features of Metro interface such as snap. Firefox also has a global search feature of Windows 8 that lets you do a web search using any search engine on the screen.
Firefox supports a hybrid mode which means it supports 2 Metro and conventional desktop environment. This makes Firefox should be the default browser to run on Metro mode. Microsoft create rule that there is only one browser that can run in Metro mode, and the browser is default browser that was set by the user.
Firefox challenges not only how to integrate Firefox into Metro interface, but also how to let users change the default browser into Firefox.
