Friendster Change into Social Discovery and Gaming Platform

Friendster is not over yet. It's what we will see if we visit Friendster website recently. Friendster just redesigned its website. Friendster no longer compete with Facebook like before. Now, Friendster focus more on discovery and game.


"We want to offer unique experience to users, as well as combining search, finding content and social function in it," said Friendster in its official statement Wednesday (25/04/2012).

In December 2009, Friendster has changed ownership. It was sold to company called MOL Global, digital payment company based in Malaysia. Ganesh Kumar Bangah, MOL Group Chief Executive Officer said that as industry pioneer in social networking, Friendster actually have paved the way for the emergence of other networking sites.

But now, Friendster is no longer just social networking website, but it also gaming community that continues to grow. It is important for Friendster to find unique position to remain competitive.

"By leveraging valuable assets owned by Friendster that have millions of users and the power of MOL company as an e-payment and content distributor, we were able to redesign Friendster as social discovery and gaming platforms, home of the largest online community in Southeast Asia," said Ganesh .

Friendster redesign later claimed will give users easy way to find new games from different genres, as well as trying a new concept to get rewards.

Special event titled Friendster FunXtion was prepared on 27 April 2012 at SM North Cyberzone Activity Area, Manila, Philippines. In the event, Friendster was ready to hold events that claimed as the biggest game in Philippines.
