Python Virus Attack Mac and Windows

Mac users just shocked by the appearance of Flashback malware. Now, there are another malicious programs that are also designed to attack Windows. The virus is detected as Mal/20113544-A and Mal/JavaCmC-A.


According to security vendor Sophos, virus was made using python programming language and assaulted by exploiting loopholes that exist in Java. Whether it's also Windows version or Mac OS version.

If the virus succeed to infiltrate, its will download the files needed to launch the action. The downloaded file is different depending on operating system used by the victim.

In Windows, virus will download file Troj/FlsplyBD-A, whereas in Mac the virus will download install_flash_player.py. When the file is downloaded, the virus will start to launch an action.

As quoted from Sophos, Saturday (04/28/2012), to avoid this attack Windows users are suggested to update their antivirus application. While Mac users can directly remove update.sh and update.py files from /Users/Shared/ folder.
