Facebook social networking create new features that facilitate users who want to donate their organs. This move is an initiative of Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, who was inspired by Steve Jobs. Later, Organ Donor features will be added in user profile pages on Facebook. User can click Life Event on profile page, then click Health and Wellness, then Organ Donors option will appear.
Users can write what organ, they want to donor, location of residency and other information, such as blood type. Information can also be distributed on Facebook timeline.
"We think that everyone really can help spread awareness about organ donation and participate in it. This could be a big part to help resolve the crisis out there," said Zuckerberg.
This new feature was inspired by Apple founder Steve Jobs, whose lives depend on liver transplant. Zuckerberg then discussed this idea with his girlfriend, Priscilla Chan, who is medical student.
When someone in crisis, Facebook is often used to seek help. However, there is little concern, this new Facebook feature will be used for criminal trade in human organs.
However, this feature can not be used in several countries.
