Yahoo! CEO officially resigns

Once rumored to resign, Scott Thompson finally decided to officially resigned as CEO of Yahoo! on Sunday (5/13/2012). As reported by Reuters, Thompson resign from the position that he held for four months because of controversy about his education record.

The official statement from Yahoo! said that Thompson did not have a prove that he have college degree in Computer Science, although the title is listed in his official resume. For temporary, the position Thompson will be replaced by Ross Levinsohn, head of Yahoo! Global Media.

As reported, last week, Yahoo! formed a committee to track the records of history education in Thompson's curriculum vitae.

This committee was created because of Daniel Loeb (Third Point LLC company owner who controls 5.8 percent stake in Yahoo!) report. Loeb accused Thompson was never graduated from computer education.

Thompson is a former President of PayPal who worked several months in Yahoo! since January this year.

CEO replacement by Yahoo! is the third time in three years. Two previous CEO before Thompson is Carol Bartz and Tim Morse who also lost his position because of performance problems.
